Family visits

One of the hard things about being in the Foreign Service is being so far away from family.  And often, we're posted so far away, that it's hard for people to come and visit.  We were lucky this past month to have a large contingent of our family come for an extended visit.

K.'s mother, sister and extended family all came and stayed for almost a month. We had a great time!!!

Unfortunately, there were some issues getting here (no thanks to Travelocity!).  Instead of everyone arriving together, they ended up coming in fits and starts over a few days.  The first person to arrive was a person we had yet to meet - so we made signs to find him at the airport.

Finally, everyone had arrived and we could enjoy ourselves.  There was sightseeing and trips to the beach,

breakfast at our favorite spot - complete with a variety of Brazilian fruit juices.

evenings playing card games,

visits to neighborhoods,

churches

markets

and museums.

We really enjoyed showing them our daily life in Brazil.

It was wonderful that some of them got to stay for a super long time - it gave us all a nice chance to hang out and catch up.
