Futebol

Soccer in Brazil is called futebol and it's more than a national sport - it's a way of living.  Everyone plays futebol and there's always a game going on somewhere.  At night when the tide is out, there are multiple futebol games going on the beach all night.  Most young men (my son included) don't leave home with out a ball that they play with constantly.

Along with his friend from school, O. has joined a local soccer team and plays two nights a week  (being Brazil, the practice is every night, but he just practices two nights a week).  And then there are games on Saturdays.

The Consulate also has a team and they play together fairly regularly.  Recently we had a match with another local team and it turned into a fun event for everyone.

Our fearless leader got presented with a futebol sports jersey.

They even let our visiting intern play.

Of course there was Brazilian barbeque - churrasco

Super yummy

A great time was had by everyone!
